Took me 6 hours to find a loose cannon plug, not the 20 minutes I told the boss
Everyone says start with the obvious stuff when you got an intermittent fault, and I mostly agree, but that advice cost me half a shift. Had a nav light flickering on a King Air at our ramp near Denton and I checked bulbs, grounds, and the breaker panel three times before I pulled the panel and found the cannon plug backshell was only finger tight with a chafed wire in there. Six hours in the Texas heat for a 20 minute fix, and I was the one who signed it off two inspections prior saying the plug was good. My point is the obvious stuff list can make you lazy about really looking at what you already touched. What's the dumbest thing you found after going through a whole troubleshooting tree?
