That $300 inspection camera I barely use now

Picked up a borescope last fall for a 737 engine check in Phoenix, thought it would pay for itself fast. Used it 3 times since, and the last time the battery died on me mid-scope. Now it sits in the drawer and I just do the old mirror and flashlight trick like before. Any of you guys actually get regular use out of one, or is it just a toy for the weekend guys?

Battery dying mid-scope is the worst, been there. Get yourself a cheap USB power bank and a longer cable so you can run it off that while you work, the little internal cells on those things are junk after a year. Also pull the battery out when it's going to sit for months, they leak and it kills the whole unit. Mine lives in my go bag now and I use it maybe once a month on gearbox and wing checks, mostly for looking into tight spots I can't get my head into. Truth is for a lot of jobs the mirror and light still work fine, so yours isn't wasted, it's just a once in a while tool. Bring it out when you actually can't see, not for every job, and it'll feel worth the money again.
