Just realized I've been setting torque wrong on spark plugs for 2 years
Was doing a routine plug change on a Cessna 172 today and my old timer coworker watched me for a second and goes 'you know those are supposed to be dry torque, right?'. I've been oiling the threads the whole time lol. Anyone else find out they've been messing up a basic step forever?

Man I did the exact same thing on an old Subaru for way too long until a buddy set me straight. Dry torque only from now on, learned that lesson the hard way.

Did you use a torque wrench too or just guess it by feel? I toasted the head gaskets on my old Legacy learning that lesson the hard way.
