I finally saw the new regional maintenance hangar in Boise and the layout is a mess
Went out there last week to drop off a part. They have the tool crib a full 300 feet from the main work area. Saw three guys just walking back and forth all morning. The whole flow is wrong, with the parts room on the opposite side of the paint booth. It's like they designed it on paper without ever turning a wrench. Who builds a new facility like this in 2024? Anyone else had to deal with a hangar that just fights you every step of the way?

You're right about the drive, @sage_perry. What gets me is the safety side they never think about. Guys are tired from all that walking, so they start taking shortcuts. I saw a guy carrying a landing gear strut alone because the cart was clear on the other side of the hangar. That's how people get hurt. The design makes every simple job harder, which just adds risk. It's not just bad flow, it's asking for an incident.

Actually it's in Nampa, not Boise. Still a weird setup though. That drive between buildings kills your whole day.

Totally feel that, the location thing is such a pain. Had a meeting out there once and spent more time in the car than in the actual room. Makes you wonder who planned that whole setup. The whole day just gets eaten up by pointless travel. Really kills any chance of getting other stuff done. Just a badly designed situation all around.
