Hard vs soft jaw torque adapters, I finally picked a side after 11 years on the line
Been doing AOG work since 2013 and always used the cheap hard extensions for torque wrenches. Last month in Phoenix I had to torque a main gear bolt and the hard adapter kept slipping at 280 ft-lbs. Swapped to a soft extension, same job, smooth and exact. The extra flex absorbs the shock and the wrench reading stays true. Anyone else ditched hard adapters for soft after a close call or two?

Figured soft ones were just for stubborn rust or weird angles, wasted money on hard adapters for years. Tried one on a wing spar bolt last week where the hard one kept popping off and yeah, the difference was night and day. The reading felt solid instead of that sketchy bounce, so now I'm slowly swapping out my whole kit.
