Factory reman vs. overhauled from the local shop - what's your call?

My chief gave me two options for a PT6 compressor section last month: shell out $18k for a factory reman, or let old Mike down at AeroParts do his hot section overhaul for $11,500. I went with Mike to save the budget, but now I'm chasing a vibration that wasn't there before. Did I get what I paid for, or am I just being paranoid? Who's had better luck with one over the other?

Wesley said it's a bad feeling when the budget move buzzes in your ear" and that's the truth. I read somewhere that PT6 compressor wheels are balanced as a matched set with the turbine, so if Mike swapped just the hot section without matching the balance, the vibration makes sense. I'd send that thing back to AeroParts with the vibration log and make them eat the re-work.

Hate that for you, man. It's a bad feeling when the budget move starts buzzing in your ear. I'd be sweating that vibration too, especially on a PT6.
