Why nobody talks about air fryer bacon fires

I was making bacon at 6am last Tuesday and the grease splatter hit the heating element. Small flame, no damage, but I never saw anyone mention that risk in the recipe posts. Anyone else have this happen?

The whole "bacon fire" thing seems like a lot of drama over a little pop. You said yourself it was a small flame with no damage. Maybe people don't talk about it because it's not really a big deal. Grease splatter hitting a heating element is basically how every stove works. If we had to warn about every tiny kitchen mishap, recipe posts would be like a million pages long. You probably just need to put less bacon in the basket or dry it off first. It's bacon, not a science experiment.

Yeah I used to think it was overblown too, changed my mind after seeing a buddy's kitchen.

And the thing is, that bacon fire is just one of those things that can go from nothing to a real problem in seconds. I've seen a buddy's range hood catch because he walked away from a pan of bacon for literally two minutes. The grease builds up in the vent and then poof, you've got flames licking up the cabinets. It's not about being dramatic, it's that a tiny flame can turn into something way worse if you're not right there watching it. Have you ever had a grease fire flare up on you when you weren't expecting it?
