Vent: I had to pick between frozen fries or fresh potatoes for my air fryer tonight
I was making dinner and only had a bag of frozen crinkle cuts or some russet potatoes from the farm stand. I went with the fresh ones, cut them into wedges, and tossed them with a little oil and garlic powder. They took about 18 minutes at 380 degrees, and they came out way crispier than I thought they would. Has anyone else found that fresh potatoes just work better in the air fryer?

Ngl I always grabbed the frozen bag for convenience. Tried fresh wedges last week and the texture was a total game changer, way more crispy outside and fluffy inside. The extra five minutes of chopping is worth it.

Totally agree about the texture difference. I started soaking my fresh wedges in cold water for 20 minutes before drying them off, pulls out more starch and they get even crispier.

The 20 minute soak just adds another step to something that's already pretty convenient. I've done frozen wedges for years and honestly the difference is minimal once you get your oil temp right and season them well. Frozen ones save time and money, and they come out plenty crispy if you know what you're doing.
