Rant: Air fryers don't need preheating like everyone says
I saw people arguing online that you have to preheat your air fryer for 5 minutes every time, but I stopped doing that 3 months ago and my chicken wings come out way crispier now. Before I was following the rules and getting soggy food, after I stopped preheating everything got that nice golden crunch. Has anyone else noticed their food cooks better just tossing it in cold?

My 4.7 quart Cosori sits right on my counter and I never preheat it either. I think all that time waiting just dries out the hot air before the food even hits it. Cold start lets the heat build up slowly with the moisture already trapped around the wings.

Oh yeah the moisture thing is huge. I found out by accident when I forgot to preheat and the wings came out way juicier. Now I never bother. Plus my Cosori is right next to the sink so I just toss em in, set the time, and walk away. No waiting around for the stupid beep. The skin still gets crispy too as long as you pat them dry with paper towels first. I also give them a little shake halfway through to redistribute the oil. Works every time for me.

My buddy got a Ninja for Christmas and spent a month doing the whole preheat ritual, complaining his fries were always limp. One day the power flickered and reset the timer mid-preheat, so he just threw the wings in anyway out of frustration. They came out so good he texted me a picture and swore he'd never wait for the beep again.
