My frozen fries went from soggy to perfect after I started doing this one thing

For months, my frozen fries came out limp and pale, no matter the brand. I tried 400 degrees for 15 minutes, shaking the basket, everything. Last Tuesday, I saw a tip online to soak them in hot water for 10 minutes and pat them dry before air frying. I tried it with a bag of store-brand crinkle cuts. The difference was crazy. They were golden and actually crispy, not just hot. Has anyone else tried a pre-soak trick for other frozen foods?

It's funny how the best kitchen tricks are always the simplest. We overcomplicate everything trying to find a high-tech fix.

Wait you mean I've been using a fancy garlic press this whole time when just smashing it with a knife works better...

Honestly I feel so dumb for never trying that. I spent like two years convinced my air fryer was broken because my fries were always sad and floppy. I was about to buy a whole new one. Turns out I just needed to give them a quick bath first. It's the kitchen version of finding out you've been opening bananas from the wrong end your whole life.
