Just tried a new trick with my frozen french fries

Used a light spray of oil and shook the basket halfway through, like the bag said. They came out way crispier than my usual soggy batch, anyone else have a go-to method?

My grandma swore by soaking the fries in cold water for an hour before you freeze them, pulls the starch out. It's a whole process but she was onto something. The real game changer for me was using the air fryer basket from my toaster oven on a regular baking sheet to lift them up. Lets the heat get under them way better than just parchment paper.

Yeah that's the thing, it's all about those little tweaks that get passed down. My mom had a whole thing with drying lettuce in a pillowcase. These old tricks usually have some solid logic behind them, even if we don't always know the science.

That cold water trick really does make a difference. I do the same thing when I'm making homemade chips, and it gives them that nice crisp exterior. Stone.evan, that air fryer basket idea on a sheet pan is smart, I've been using a wire cooling rack but I bet the basket works even better for airflow.
