Just learned that preheating the air fryer actually makes a difference for crispy fries
I used to just toss stuff in cold and turn it on, but last week I tried preheating for 3 minutes before adding my frozen fries. The texture came out WAY crunchier than usual, like restaurant level. My wife even commented on it without me saying anything. I think people skip this step because they think it's like a microwave where it doesn't matter. Has anyone else tested preheating versus not and noticed a big change in your results?

Wait, hold on, you're telling me you never preheated it at ALL before? Like, for real? I mean, I knew some people skipped it but I thought everyone at least did like a minute or two just out of habit. That's wild to me. I don't even think of it as a choice, honestly, it's just part of the whole air fryer ritual in my house. But hearing that your wife noticed the difference without you saying anything is huge. That's the kind of proof that shuts down any argument, you know? I bet the texture change is way more dramatic than people realize.

Preheating is the difference between soggy and crispy, no question. I run mine at 400 for a full 5 minutes before putting anything in, especially frozen stuff. That initial blast of heat seals the outside right away before the moisture can steam them. Your wife noticing without you saying anything is the real proof right there. Once you start doing it there's no going back.
