Frozen hash browns vs fresh potatoes for air fryer breakfast hash

I made hash browns in the air fryer using fresh shredded potatoes last Sunday and they came out soggy even after pressing out the moisture. Tried the frozen bagged ones the next day at 400°F for 12 minutes and they turned perfectly crispy with way less effort. Has anyone else found that frozen works better than fresh for certain air fryer recipes?

Man, my frozen hash game is so weak I usually end up with one side burnt and the other still raw... guess that's why I'm not a chef.
