Why I think AI art tools are hurting new artists more than helping
Everyone in this sub keeps cheering how Midjourney or DALL-E lets anyone make art, but nobody talks about the flood of generic fantasy portraits drowning out actual beginners on Etsy and Reddit. I've seen three separate artist forums in Portland lose their commission threads to AI spam in the last 6 months. If you can't tell which piece took 40 hours of human work versus 40 seconds of prompts, the market gets skewed fast. Has anyone else noticed their own AI-generated images getting praised while their hand-drawn stuff sits at 2 upvotes?
