Vent: my AI upscaler turned my grandma's 1962 wedding photo into a plastic alien
I ran my grandma's 1962 wedding photo through one of those free AI upscalers on a Sunday night, and it did her face so dirty. Her eyes came out glassy and her teeth turned into one solid white bar, like a bad cartoon. The whole thing took about 40 seconds and I sat there staring at it for 10 minutes trying to figure out where it went wrong. I cranked the face restore slider to max because the preview looked fine at small size, which was my first mistake. I ended up feeding it a cleaner 600 dpi scan the next day, kept the strength at 40 percent, and it looked way more like her. What settings do you all use when the source photo is old and grainy? I still have 30 more of these to fix before my mom's birthday.
