Vent: Everyone keeps asking their AI to write like a pro and it sounds fake
I see this all the time in my work group. People will type 'write a professional email' into a tool like ChatGPT and just copy the result. It comes out full of stiff words like 'furthermore' and 'please be advised'. I tried this for a client report six months ago and they said it felt robotic. Now I tell the AI to 'write a clear, friendly email about the project update'. I give it a few bullet points of what to say. The difference is huge. It sounds like a real person wrote it. The key is you have to guide the tone, not just the task. Has anyone else found a simple phrase that makes AI writing sound more natural?

What's your go-to phrase for making AI sound less like a robot?

Just tell it to write like a normal person talking. That's the whole trick. I add "use plain language and a casual tone" to almost every prompt now. It cuts out the fake professional junk. My boss actually complimented an update last week because it sounded direct and easy to read. You have to be specific about how you want it to sound, not just what you want it to say.

Just stop telling it to write like a "professional" and it fixes itself. People overthink this. Tell it to use short sentences and sound like someone talking at a coffee shop. It works every time.
