Is AI art really art if the prompter can't draw?

Last week I saw a guy win a digital art contest with a Midjourney piece but he admitted he's never touched a brush in his life. A few years ago at a gallery in Austin, Texas they refused to even display AI generated works - does the tool matter more than the final image?

People are obsessed with labels and gatekeeping everything these days, from what counts as real music to what qualifies as real cooking. At the end of the day, if the final piece moves someone or makes them stop and look, that's more important than how many years someone spent learning to sketch.

Respectfully @caseyw12, gatekeeping keeps standards high so the FINAL piece doesn't end up as absolute garbage.
