Hot take: Midjourney beats DALL-E for product mockups every time
I spent last month making package designs for a small craft soap business, and I compared Midjourney and DALL-E 3 side by side on the same prompts. Midjourney just nailed the lighting and texture way better for realistic soap labels, while DALL-E kept giving me weird plastic-looking bars. Has anyone else found one tool dominating over another for specific commercial uses?

dall-e 3 has this weird thing with organic materials where it oversmoothes everything like it's trying to make it look 'clean' but it ends up looking like AI-generated bar of soap from a temu ad. midjourney v6 with the right stylize setting (try like 100-150 for product work) keeps the natural grain and shadows that make it look like an actual photo of physical packaging. one trick that worked for me was feeding midjourney a reference image of actual soap texture and using image weight at 0.5, got way better label mockups that actually looked like printed paper wrapped around handmade bars. still have to photoshop out the occasional weird text tho, both tools choke on that.

Guess DALL-E's plastic soap bars weren't exactly the vibe you were going for lol
