Heard a 12 year old explain ChatGPT to his dad at the bus stop

Kid was like 'no dad, it doesn't know anything, it just predicts what sounds right' and honestly that was the clearest thing I've heard about LLMs in months. I remember when we thought spellcheck was magic, now my nephew uses AI to write his homework and I'm not even sure how to feel. It made me wonder if we're all just getting used to tools that are smarter than us without really understanding them. Anyone else have a moment where a kid explained AI better than most tech articles?
