Dropped $80 on that AI resume builder last month
Figured I'd try one of those AI resume tools that promise to get you past the bots. Spent an hour feeding it my work history. The output was just generic buzzword soup. Like it made me sound like a robot applying for a manager job I never held. Got zero callbacks from the 20 jobs I sent it to. Anyone else find those tools useless or did I just pick a bad one?

Yo that sucks I feel you. I tried one of those paid ones too and got the exact same thing - just a bunch of buzzwords that didn't sound like me at all. Like who actually describes themselves as a "results driven professional" in real life? It's like the AI just scraped a bunch of LinkedIn profiles and mashed them together. Honestly the best move is just to use a free template from Google Docs and write it yourself. Takes longer but at least it sounds like a real human. Sorry you wasted your money on that though, that's rough.

Totally agree with you on the "results driven professional" thing. Its like they have a checklist of the most generic phrases possible. I tried messing with one of those tools to see if I could tweak the output to sound more like me, but the whole thing was locked down. Couldnt even change a single word in certain sections, just had to accept whatever weird description it spat out. Better off spending that $80 on a pizza and just using a blank doc.
