Compared YOLOv8 against that older ResNet model for my project
After 3 weeks of testing on my dataset, YOLOv8 was 40% faster and way more accurate at spotting defects in metal parts, has anyone else noticed a big gap between new and old object detection models?

YOLOv8 crushed it in my tests too.

Crushed it is right, mine ran so smooth it felt like cheating. I half expect the next version to just start writing code on its own and asking for a coffee break. Honestly though, I don't trust it because I still stink at tuning the hyperparameters. I just slam default settings and hope for the best. Works okay for me so far but I know I'm leaving performance on the table.
