AI caught a structural flaw my engineer missed on a small bridge

I work with a civil engineering firm on the side and we had a small pedestrian bridge inspection last Tuesday. The senior engineer walked it for 2 hours and signed off, but then I ran the drone footage through a free AI crack detection tool I found on GitHub. It flagged a hairline fracture pattern near the abutment that the naked eye totally glossed over. We went back with a concrete scanner and confirmed it was real, a 4 inch deep shear crack. Has anyone else used AI vision on older infrastructure and found things the pros skipped?
