Used to spend 3 hours on one sketch in my notebook, now the first idea shows up in 30 seconds
Back in 2019 I filled up this cheap spiral notebook with pencil drawings, and one face could take me a whole evening, erasing and redrawing the nose like five times. Now I type a sentence into one of those image tools on my phone at lunch, and something pops out before my coffee gets cold. I still keep the notebook in my bag next to my laptop, which is sort of the problem, because I never open it. The stuff from the app looks clean and shiny, but when I flip to my old pages the lines are crooked and the shading is messy and I like it more. My cousin saw both and said the AI ones look like a poster you buy at the mall, and I sat there for a minute because he was right. I am not saying one is fake, I am saying my hand learned something over 40 notebooks that the prompt box skipped. So where is the line for you, is it the tool, or is it how much of yourself gets left on the page?
Ever watch a buddy trace something off his phone screen and call it his own? Mine did that for a month straight, then went back to his sketchbook because the app stuff all started looking the same. Guess the sloppy lines are where the good stuff hides.
