That artist at a coffee shop near Denver told me AI art is just theft
I was showing some AI landscapes I made on my laptop and this painter type came over and said I was basically just stealing from real artists. He pointed at a mountain in my image and claimed it was lifted from a photo he recognized. I still don't know if he had a point or was just angry, how do you deal with people who say that to your face?

lol my buddy Mark literally had this happen to him at a local art fair in Portland. He was showing some cool AI generated stuff on a tablet and this older lady started yelling at him saying her grandkids art was "being stolen" or whatever. Mark just turned the tablet around and showed her the raw screenshots of him making the prompts step by step with no reference images at all. She still wasn't having it though, said something about the "spirit of the art" being gone. Honestly people just get scared of new stuff and want to have a moral high ground about it. I just tell my friends to say "cool opinion" and move on because you're not gonna win an argument about creativity with someone who already decided they hate the whole thing.

You ever try just hitting them with "I hear you" and then going back to what you were doing? Works for me every time, they usually wander off when they dont get a reaction. Takes all the wind out of their sails when you dont feed into the argument.
