Switched to noise-heavy diffusion models for 2 weeks and got better texture detail than fine-tuned checkpoints ever gave me

I was stuck in a rut trying to get realistic fur and fabric textures using the usual community checkpoints on Civitai. Spent maybe 30 hours fiddling with LoRAs and merging. Then I just loaded up a raw old school latent diffusion model with high CFG and no negative prompt at all. Results looked messy at first but the textures had a grit and randomness my polished models couldn't touch. Took me 3 days to dial in the denoising strength right. Still not sure if this counts as "better" art since half my outputs are garbage. Anybody else ditch the polished models for something rougher?

raw noise diffusion is a whole different beast. i spent a week on a single denoising schedule trying to get wood grain to look like actual wood and not plastic. the garbage rate is brutal though, like 80% of my gens are unusable but the ones that hit have this weird tangible feel. community checkpoints feel too clean now, like they sanded off all the interesting edges.

Nah, clean outputs let me actually use them for stuff without sorting through a trash pile.
