My art teacher in Austin said AI art would never hang in a gallery. Then a local show accepted three AI pieces.
Back in March my old art teacher from Austin told our group chat that AI art would never be taken seriously by any gallery. She said it flat out, no room for argument, and most of us nodded along. Then two months ago the East Side art walk here in town accepted three AI generated pieces into their spring show, and one of them sold for $450. I went to see them in person and honestly I could not tell they were made by a computer until I read the little cards next to them. So now I am stuck wondering if she was wrong or if this is just a fluke. Has anyone else seen AI work get into a real show, or was my town just desperate for entries?
