Had a weird moment at the Portland Art Museum that made me rethink my whole stance on AI art

The machine just shuffled existing human emotion, it didn't create it.

Have you ever had one of those moments where you're looking at something and you can't tell if you're feeling the intended emotion or just imagining it? I was at a street fair once and saw this painting that was supposed to be a waterfall but it looked like a bunch of static, and I stood there for like ten minutes trying to figure out if I was supposed to feel peaceful or just confused. That's kind of how I feel about AI art sometimes, like the line between what's real and what's made up gets all blurry.

Remember my friend telling me about seeing an AI generated portrait that genuinely moved her. She said the emotion felt real, even knowing it was made by a machine. It really messed with her idea of where art comes from.
