Before and after browsing the same art forum for 8 months and the change scared me
I joined a digital art group back in January and at first I could spot AI work almost every time. By this month, I scrolled through 60 posts in a row on my lunch break and could not tell a single one apart. The faces stopped looking waxy, the hands stopped having six fingers, and the shadows started falling in the right places. What changed is the tools got sharper while I stayed the same, so my eye never caught up. If you are judging this stuff by gut feeling alone, you are already behind and it happened in under a year. Has anyone else noticed their own detection rate drop that fast?
Same thing happened to me and it freaked me out too. Back in the spring I was calling out AI art in comment sections like I was some kind of expert, and now half the stuff I liked and saved turned out to be fake when someone else pointed it out. The worst part is the stuff that fools me now is the boring stuff, like simple portraits and landscapes, not the weird flashy stuff that used to give it away. My eye just got lazy while the tools kept getting better, and I did not even notice it happening until a friend asked me to spot the fakes and I got most of them wrong.
