Appreciation post: My kid's school art show in Denver had an AI category this year

I saw a bunch of pictures made by students using those image generators, and the parents were actually arguing about if it counted as real art. It made me realize how normal this debate is getting. Do you think having a separate category for it is the right move?

My nephew's school in Austin did the same thing last semester. They had a whole separate section for digital and AI art at their spring fair. It totally calmed down the parents who were getting heated. The kids just wanted to show what they made, and putting it in its own category let them do that without the old-school vs new-school art fight. It felt like a good middle ground that let everyone focus on the work.
