A gallery in Portland had an AI art show last week and it got me thinking
Three years ago, I would have said AI art was just a gimmick. Last month, I saw a piece called 'Electric Dreams' that made me pause. The show at the Pine Street Gallery last week had over 30 pieces, and some of them felt like they had real emotion behind them. Has anyone else had their mind changed by seeing AI art in person?

Remember when people said AI art would never feel real? I saw a piece last year that was just colors and light on a wall, but it somehow felt sad and hopeful at the same time. It's hard to explain, but seeing it in a room with other people all quiet, it just hits different. I guess I had to see it for myself to get it.

Colors and light on a wall, but it felt sad and hopeful"? That's honestly terrifying. Like my Roomba's vacuum patterns are supposed to make me cry next? But okay, I get it. Maybe I'm just bitter because my AI generated valentine's card came out looking like a confused penguin.

Totally get that feeling of being surprised by it! My cousin dragged me to a digital art fair last fall, and I was ready to be bored. But there was this one screen showing a forest that slowly turned into stained glass. It wasn't just random shapes, it had a real mood to it, like a quiet story. I stood there way longer than I thought I would. Makes you look at the whole thing differently.
