The day I found a fully stocked pantry in an abandoned farmhouse near Waco, and then it got creepy real fast

So last month I was out in the farmland around Waco, Texas, checking out this old farmhouse that had been sitting since the 90s. Nothing special on the outside, peeling paint, sagging porch, the usual. But I walked into the kitchen and the pantry was still full. Like cans of soup from 1994, a jar of pickles, even a box of instant mashed potatoes. Wild part was the pickles were still sealed and not swollen, so I actually opened them. They smelled fine. I did NOT eat them, I'm not that crazy. But here's what made the day stand out. I was taking photos of the jars and I noticed the dates on everything stopped in October of 1994. Then I found a calendar on the wall, still on October. And a kid's drawing taped to the fridge with a crayon sun. Someone just walked out and never came back. I spent like 3 hours in that kitchen trying to piece it together, found a stack of letters in a drawer from a guy named Ray who was overseas. The last one said "be home before Thanksgiving, don't wait up." I still think about that place. Have any of you found stuff like that, where it felt like the people just vanished mid-life? I started bringing a notebook to log dates and names now, feels like the right way to honor the spot.
