Stop sharing the exact gps coordinates of abandoned places online

I was browsing this community last week and saw someone posted the lat/long for an old asylum in upstate New York. Two days later a group of vandals went there and trashed the place because they found it through that post. Can we all agree to just give general regions or directions instead of pinning spots for anyone to find?

It reminds me of how people post the exact location of wildflower patches on social media, and then a week later the whole field is trampled flat because everyone went there to take the same photos. We have this habit of sharing everything down to the street address or coordinates without thinking about what happens when 50 strangers show up at once. Abandoned places are especially tricky because they're not maintained and can be dangerous, plus the owners might not want people poking around in the first place.

@paige870 totally get it, I watched a whole trail get destroyed after someone posted the GPS coordinates of a hidden waterfall.
