Drove 3 hours to shoot a mill in PA that got torn down 6 months before I showed up
I keep a list of spots from old forum threads and Google Maps shots, and one was this textile mill outside Scranton that looked perfect, big windows, water tower, the works. Got up at 5am, drove 3 hours, and found a chain link fence around a fresh dirt lot with a new apartment sign out front. Later I checked the county records and it came down 7 months back, the aerial pics I was going off were from 2019. Now I call the local code office or the non-emergency police line before any drive over an hour, takes 10 minutes and they always know if a place is still standing. How do you all vet spots before making a long drive, do cold calls actually work for you?
