TIL my grandma's 1953 diner menu had a coffee stain that hid the real prices, and I almost tossed the whole thing
I was cleaning out my grandma's attic in Toledo and found a 1953 menu from a diner called The Blue Ribbon. I almost threw it in the trash because a big brown coffee ring covered the bottom half of the prices. I held it up to a lamp and saw the stain was actually on a clear plastic sleeve, so I slid the menu out and the real prices were fine underneath. The meatloaf was $0.85 and a cup of coffee was a dime. Has anyone else found old paper stuff where the damage was just on a protector?
