The day I picked between a Philco and a Zenith for my basement den
Back in '58 my dad handed me 80 bucks and said pick a TV for the rumpus room. I stared at a Philco with that weird round picture tube and a Zenith that had a sharper edge. Went with the Zenith because the cabinet matched the paneling better. That set ran for 22 years without a hiccup, then the flyback transformer gave out one Christmas. Anybody else's family TV decision come down to something dumb like furniture matching?

Held onto a Philco Predicta tabletop until 2005 just because it looked so cool with that swivel screen. Thing was a nightmare to fix whenever the deflection board blew out, and it blew out a lot lol. But for pure midcentury vibe nothing beat that bubble tube. Your Zenith sounds like the smarter choice though.
