Pro tip: Don't try and patch a 1952 Frigidaire freezer with duct tape like I did last Tuesday

I found this old Frigidaire at a garage sale in Akron for $40, thought I'd save some cash when the hinge broke, but after three hours of wrestling with tape and a bent coat hanger the door actually fell off and crushed my toe, has anyone else had luck finding real replacement parts for these things or am I better off just using it as a fire pit?

Oh man, that sounds like a rough day. Honestly I've been there with old appliances that just refuse to cooperate. Ngl I tried to fix a 1950s washing machine once with wire hangers and it ended up flooding my garage floor. For those Frigidaire parts you might have better luck searching on ebay or hitting up old appliance repair shops in smaller towns. Tbh my buddy found a guy near Columbus who kept a whole barn of vintage freezer parts, so theyre out there if you dig around.

Hold up, that Columbus guy sounds like a goldmine but a barn full of parts? They're probably rustier than the freezer itself. You sure he wasn't just hoarding junk and calling it a parts inventory?
