My vintage toaster finally died and I nearly cried
I found a 1954 Sunbeam toaster at a garage sale last year and used it every morning until last Tuesday when it just stopped heating. I opened it up and saw the mica element was cracked in two places. Anyone know if those old elements can be patched or do I need to find a replacement toaster?

Can you just glue the mica back together or something?

Have you thought about using epoxy instead of just glue? I saw a video where a guy fixed a broken mica sheet with some two-part epoxy and it held up pretty good. @faithjones, epoxy might be a better bet than regular craft glue since mica can be fragile. Just make sure to clamp it tight while it dries, I heard that makes a difference.
