My mom's 1956 Sunbeam mixer finally died after 68 years
It smoked out during a batch of fudge last Tuesday, and I spent the whole weekend trying to find a repair shop in Columbus that would even look at it, has anyone else had luck fixing those old workhorse appliances or do I just retire it?

Man, that hurts to read, I feel your pain. My grandma's old KitchenAid from the 50s finally gave up two years ago and I literally had to rebuild the motor myself with parts from three different junkyards before it would spin again.
