My grandma's 1956 recipe box had a measurement error I never caught

For two years I baked her chocolate chip cookies and they always came out flat. Last month my cousin found her original note in the box, she wrote "1/2 cup" but crossed it out to "1/4" in pencil. Took me until age 34 to double check the source instead of my own notes. Any other family recipes with hidden corrections in the margins?
