My dad's 1954 fire insurance policy paid out on a rusty water pipe claim last month

I found an old policy in a box and filed a test claim on a corroded line under my sink. The adjuster actually approved $340 for the repair. Has anyone else gotten money from an old policy or is this a fluke?

Wait, they actually honored a policy from 1954? That adjuster must have been bored out of his mind, I can't believe that worked.

The 1954 clause had a specific 2.5% annual cap that nobody ever bothered to update, so the payout ended up being way more than they expected lol. I used to think old policies were just dusty paper, but @wade558 this really changed my mind after seeing how airtight those legacy contracts can be. The adjuster probably had to dig through microfilm just to find the original terms.
