Found my dad's old black and white photos of downtown Detroit from 1957

Last week I was cleaning out my attic and stumbled across a shoebox full of photos my dad took back in 1957. He worked at the old Hudson's department store downtown and snapped shots of Woodward Avenue during lunch breaks. You can see the old streetcars and Packards parked along the curb, everything so clean and busy. Makes me wonder what people back then would think of all the empty lots there now. Anyone else have family photos that show a city before it changed?

MAN that's a REAL find! Did your dad ever talk about what happened to the streetcars once they started tearing them out in the late 50s. I've always wondered if people fought to keep em or if everyone just accepted the change.

@miles_grant35 Respectfully, maybe the change wasn't all bad for folks back then.
