Found a 1953 Sears catalog in my grandpa's attic in Ohio and the prices floored me

I was cleaning out my grandpa's attic in Dayton, Ohio last month and found his 1953 Sears catalog with pages still folded over. He had circled a $4.98 electric drill and wrote 'too much' next to it in pencil, which is funny since a similar drill runs about $50 now. Does anyone else have old catalogs with handwritten notes in them, and what did your relatives pass up buying?
